Hola. My name is Andres Arias. I was born surrounded by volcanoes and mountains in Mexico City. I live next to palm trees and beaches in Miami, where I moved more than twenty years ago.

Growing up, I wanted to study astrophysics. At 17, I spent a year being mentored by a UNAM researcher discussing relativity and black holes. Yet I decided to follow (a slightly) darker path and started a career in tech, lured by the nascent and exciting internet era of the late 90s.

I read, think and relax by playing guitar or walking on the beach with my wife and three children.

Professional Life

My career focused mainly on the US and Latin America and began in 1999 with Lucent Technologies (now Nokia Networks), where I helped deploy data and wireless networks across the Americas.

In 2002, I moved on to launch the new JV between Sony and Ericsson in Latin America, where I ultimately led the product management team. After launching hundreds of mobile products in over 20 countries (and luckily before iPhone), I joined Cisneros Group, a Miami-based media conglomerate.

Cisneros was a traditional media company looking to launch its interactive division, and its subsidiaries became fertile ground to explore and test multiple internet business models. As part of the Cisneros group, I ran value-added services for an MVNO (Movida), operations for a content aggregator division (LatCel), launched a soccer social network (Wallcup), did M&A for digital companies, and ran product and operations for a mobile advertising company (Adsmovil).

In 2018, I helped Neoris launch its global building materials digital transformation practice. In 2020, I focused on growing Clarity, a small (ok tiny) growth consulting company I founded in 2016.

Today, I am a senior advisor at Amazon Web Services (AWS). I help large companies realize business outcomes from their investments in digital transformation.
